Opening Reception Friday December 28th 5pm-8pm At the Harvest Gallery in Cincinnati
Do you think I make ends meet through Art? The answer unequivocally is no. Like you, I have a job I get paid bi-weekly and weirdly, I am lucky enough to enjoy my day job quite a bit. When I graduated with my Masters Degree in Fine Art---concentrating in Painting, I am not quite sure what I thought I would be doing but it wasn’t this. So as I immersed myself into this new life in the business world I found myself running business reviews and reading KPI reports, looking at graphs and charts that where meant to help me prepare for meetings—but the artist in me is looking at these charts thinking, “I wonder why they use these colors” and, “this is really beautiful compositionally.” As a result I made this body of work to merge my two worlds. I will always look at the world through the eyes of an artist for which I am thankful. These paintings combine my affinity for color theory and surface quality while exploring the subject matter derived from my day job. Whether these colors and shapes indicate a percentage of product sold or combine complementary colors which create simultaneous contrast—they are used to show us something, measure something or in some way as a form of communication.
